We all like taking vacations, but sometimes our commitments or money prevent us from taking a lengthy, relaxing trip. If you still want to get away, take a look at these five amazing NC day trips, which provide quick access to many of the state’s most major sites. They’re nearby, inexpensive, and simple to fit into a day trip. There is no need to stay at a hotel!

White Lake Water Park

Do you want to swim in a natural and cool waterbody? There are several waterfall pools, rivers, lakes, and even some secret hidden sites across the state that will boost your regular swimming experience. Lower Cascade Falls at Hanging Rock State Park gives mountain vibes in Piedmont. The secret Midnight Hole with the Smokies as a backdrop is worth the walk, and there’s even Jordan Lake near Apex for people in the Triangle who want to dip but don’t want to drive too far.

Asheville’s Sliding Rock

Sliding Rock, situated in the Pisgah National Forest near Brevard, is a great place to go for a day trip in the summertime or get one final trip in before winter. The boulder is a 60-foot flat rock that slopes downhill and holds roughly 11,000 gallons per minute, offering the greatest natural waterslide. Visitors to this famous area form a line along the side to take turns sliding down the cliff and splashing into an eight-foot-deep pool before jumping out to do it again. Even though the lifeguards are on duty only from May to September (and on weekends in early October), you are welcome to visit and slide any time throughout the day.

Boone, NC Vacation Rentals

Boone is among our favorite little communities in North Carolina, owing to the abundance of hiking trails and waterfalls. Snow tubing, walks to wonderful sites like Rough Ridge and Otter Falls, and the chance to drink some nice beer are all available in Boone, which really is a four-season getaway. There are many excellent restaurants in Boone, from amazing pasta at Basil’s to exotic meats at The Cardinal. Make sure to set aside a couple of hours for a beer and some unique beer cheese at Booneshine.

Blowing Rock Cabin Rentals

Look no farther than the summit of The Blowing Rock for several of North Carolina’s most spectacular vistas! Before going to the lovely Glen Burney, search for hidden gems and read about gravity’s oddities at Mystery Hill. The Speckled Trout and Town Tavern are some of the greatest eateries in town. Timberlake’s and Bistro Roca at Chetola are two more terrific possibilities for a romantic night.

Divine Vineyards

The Llama Vineyards near East Bend offer a fascinating weekend day trip. This unusual location is a well-kept surprise, suitable for both the wine lover and the animal lover! From drinking their award-winning vino to taking selfies with the llamas, the eclectic getaway is a great place to be!
